• Calculated necessary improvements to pole barn for structural stability.
• Created alternatives for new porch and set of AutoCAD drawings showing design.
• Designed corporate website and created spreadsheets to improve calculation and design speed.
1998–2010 Black & Veatch
Las Vegas, NV
• Created computer models to analyze water quantity and quality in the Las Vegas Wash and Lake Mead as part of the System Conveyance and Operations Program (SCOP). The models were used to ensure regulatory compliance after construction of the facilities. TDS, Selenium and perchlorate were of particular interest in the Las Vegas Wash. Used commercial modeling software to analyze the interface between the SCOP design and Lake Mead to determine appropriate mixing zone. Conducted schedule and budget controls for the project.
• Performed duties of liaison between final design team for the SCOP SCADA system and the client.
• Modeled hydraulics in Clark County Water Reclamation District to determine piping bottlenecks and appropriate locations for pipeline modification.
• Designed yard piping plan for water treatment facility in Sacramento, CA, to ensure treatment processes were properly connected.
• Designed off-site piping for new satellite wastewater treatment facility in Henderson, NV, including utility investigations, pipeline plans and specifications.
• Led conceptual design team for portion of the SCOP pipeline.
• Designed pump station, performing system curve analyses necessary to determine appropriate pumps and variable speed drives.
• Designed two primary clarifiers for the Clark County Water Reclamation District, increasing the plant treatment capacity.
• Performed necessary calculations and wrote report for drainage study of new reservoir and pump station.
• Performed pilot plant study of feasibility of desalination of shallow groundwater system in the Las Vegas Valley using nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membrane technologies.
• Collected data and analyzed projected wastewater flows and loads in the Las Vegas Valley.
• Conducted pilot testing to understand solids dewatering and filtration methods prior to wastewater treatment plant expansion in Henderson, NV.
• Created GIS program in the Las Vegas office of Black & Veatch in 1999.
• Used GIS to aid selection of appropriate alignment of SCOP facilities, taking care to avoid environmentally and archaeologically sensitive areas.
• Performed analysis of boring locations and pipeline corridors for updated treatment plant facilities in Primm, NV.
• Planned alignment of a wastewater interceptor pipeline in the Las Vegas Valley using available GIS data.
• Examined stormwater drainage system in the Las Vegas Valley to determine feasibility of connecting potential satellite treatment plants for effluent management.
• Assessed sewer collection system for the City of Las Vegas to determine appropriate schedule for maintenance or replacement.
• Performed GIS analysis of the Las Vegas Valley for reclaimed water usage and potential, future reclaimed water customers.
• Examined Northeast section of Henderson, NV, for reuse water customers and need of pump station for delivery of highly treated wastewater effluent.
• Trained others in the appropriate use of GIS for engineering projects.
• Performed necessary computer repairs of both hardware and software for the Las Vegas office of Black & Veatch for six years.
• Troubleshot and corrected computer errors.
• Updated computer systems, replaced parts, taught engineers how to use their software packages.
